12 years after Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection the very first New Testament writing was written by Jesus’ brother James. Jame’s letter to the church is rich with encouragement and exhortation. The original audience and recipient of this letter were Jewish believers, however, you will find the material in this letter and what he has to teach us today still timeless and timely. James teaches followers of Christ what to do when faced with trials of all kinds and how not just know God’s word, but live it out. There are topics of money, favoritism, and sanctification. In this letter, there is practically NO Christian doctrine taught… but instead within its only five chapters, James outlines five very practical points of the consequences of faith as it plays out in our everyday lives.
